As working with a winter maintenance contractor is critical for the operational continuality of businesses during the winter months, it is essential to understand how you will be supported and that customer satisfaction is met when snow and ice events occur.

Therefore, as we end another successful main winter gritting and snow clearance season, we thought we would take the opportunity to reflect on the step’s that AccuGrit takes to ensure our clients are protected over the winter season.

  1. We Create a Winter Maintenance Plan with a Free Site Inspection.

The team at AccuGrit have accumulated many years of experience and understands that every business and site has varying levels of gritting and snow clearance requirements. That’s why step one in any partnership with a company is meeting the facilities manager and visiting the site in person to enable our experts to assess any complexities first-hand.

Once we have visited a site, we are better informed to assemble a comprehensive winter maintenance plan that meets the needs established in the initial site visit. The program will detail the areas we cover, any potential health and safety precautions, the equipment we suggest using, how we will maintain the site operationally (considering visitors and employees), and a transparent pricing structure.

  1. We Order Supplies and Equipment in Advance.

It’s no secret that the past couple of years have proved challenging for the shipping industry, and gaining and maintaining stocks has been problematic.

Recognising this AccuGrit has developed a strategy which will not leave any customer at risk. Our parent company DMMP is the manufacturer and supplier of Cresco grit spreaders. Offering the broadest range of high-quality commercial and domestic spreaders and sprayers designed to do the job. We have unlimited access to their stocks.

In addition, in 2022 AccuGrit stopped importing brown salt from overseas; instead, it comes from a salt mine in Winsford Cheshire. As a result, we retain 150% of the stock we require for all clients and receive deliveries well in advance of the winter months to ensure we are ready to hit the ground running come November.

  1. We Use Innovative Technology and Train our Employees.

One of the bonuses of only focussing our business on Winter Maintenance is that we spend all year living and breathing the industry. The advantage of this is that we are always at the forefront of innovative winter technology and the latest training to become available.

In the past few years, we have introduced Wintersense, which uses smart-sensor technology coupled with IoT communications to provide live surface temperatures. In addition, AccuCams, an innovative technology exclusive to AccuGrit, enables our Met Office-trained employees to observe site conditions and monitor a live snow event in our control room 24/7 during winter. Plus, we can access first-class, accurate weather forecasting from the University of East Anglia.

All our staff in HQ qualified last year in the City & Guilds Winter Service Operations, Supervision and Monitoring Training Course – a first in the winter maintenance industry. Plus, for reliability, AccuGrit field teams are seasonal employees rather than subcontractors who annually receive a complete training programme via qualified personnel before using any equipment or going on-site.

The AccuGrit team members responsible for account management on all contracts are also trained to the IOSH standards, and the business is supported further by Quenby Support services, who help us with all aspects of Health and Safety.

  1. We Provide a Guaranteed Winter Gritting and Snow Removal Contracts.

Finally, we are so confident of our services and team that we place guarantees within all our contracts, including our times to respond in a wintery event and the access you have to important information.

AccuGrit truly understands how important it is to keep paths, car parks and roads clear from risk during an ice or snow event, and the implications of not doing so can be detrimental to a business; this is why we work in partnership with all our clients to ensure complete customer satisfaction and why we receive a 100% renewal rate.
